The route
Zurich → A3 → A2 south past Lucerne → Gotthard tunnel or Furka pass in summer → Rhône valley → Visp → Täsch Matterhorn Terminal. Zermatt itself is car-free, so your chauffeur drops you at Täsch; from there the shuttle train takes you into Zermatt in about 12 minutes, and you purchase the shuttle ticket yourself at the terminal.
Why chauffeur beats the train for this trip
The Zurich–Täsch train is scenic but usually involves a change and a taxi to the station. With 2+ passengers, luggage, ski gear, or after a long-haul flight, a private Mercedes is often similar in cost per person and always more comfortable. You leave when you want and can add a stop, such as a Lucerne lakeside break, at extra cost for the detour and waiting time.

Waiting beyond the free period is CHF 1.00/min for the first 180 minutes and CHF 0.50/min after that. You pay online in advance by card, TWINT or Apple Pay, and your booking is confirmed by email once availability is checked.
Route description
Zermatt is car-free, so every road transfer ends in Täsch, 5 km before Zermatt, where the shuttle train runs every 20 minutes (about 12 min ride). We usually drive via Bern and the Lötschberg car train (Kandersteg–Goppenstein) into the Valais; in summer the Grimsel/Furka route is an alternative.
